I don't always look at horoscopes but the ones I have read I
realized they are somewhat true. The prediction is kind of true but it says
comments that are usually common in someone’s life and then makes that person
believe that they will always be true or need to happen. For example, one day
it says that someone close to you wants to know more about your inner thoughts,
and they want the truth or you need to express your emotions don’t be scared.
Those examples are so common that they happen all the time or at least we all
feel that sometime throughout the day. Horoscopes make you think that you have
to take part in the saying. When it says my bravery has been proven many times but
have I proven it to myself, is so common because of course my bravery has been
proven to someone. I have friends and family that I’m around all the time of
course they seen my bravery. I can easily create an example of a horoscope comment: You need to relax and watch, soon you will have the time to speak.
I agree with you on your different points regarding your horoscope. I also think that most horoscopes are written in a very broad way so that it could generalize to as many people as possible. In my opinion, people always connect their horoscope to some event that has happened or about to happen in that particular day, and that leads them to believe that horoscopes are accurate. People make their own future and even if one is said to be destined for something, but that person is not driven for it to happen, then it would not come to life. I think that it is important to keep in perspective that people should not be influenced by horoscopes but by their own personal positive outlook in life.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I feel like all horoscopes give you such generic and broad comments that you can use every day. But, if they did not give broad comments then the daily horoscopes that we read would not be able to appeal to everyone just like Anna Gram said. The broader the comments the easier it is for someone to be able to relate it to some incident that they had that day. It is like when people tell you that when you make goals you need to make then specific because if they are broad, there is room for you to cut corners and convince your self that you have achieved that goal.
ReplyDeleteI think you’re right that horoscopes are very generalized and can apply to nearly anyone. I also think they tend to be very accessible – in that anyone can achieve what it expects of you. In your example that you need to show your bravery to yourself, not only can anyone see truth in that, but anyone has the ability to prove the horoscope right. I think that is another big appeal of it, because people can adjust their behaviors to fulfill the horoscopes prediction. This of course “proves” the horoscope to gullible people. It’s almost freaky how accurate they are sometimes though…
ReplyDeleteYea horoscopes are usually pretty close on and it amazes me on how they seem to be accurate. Sometimes I feel like horoscopes are all similar but the wording is different every other day. Horoscopes usually say things that are common in someone’s daily life. For example, when it says you enjoy your friends, of course you will enjoy your friends because everyone has friends that they enjoy. Never really depend on your horoscopes but if you want to get a kick out of something, read one every now and then. It’s up to you if you decide on following up on your horoscope and making it come true.
ReplyDeleteEven though some horoscopes sometimes look true doesn't mean that it always is.Which is the reason i completely agree with you when you say that horoscopes say something that is most common in peoples' lives which makes them believe that they are actually true. Most horoscopes are really broad and say things such as, "you will be very successfull today." That is something really common so people could read it and when some small thing happens to them they would react and say woah I was successful because i achieved this today and they will believe that their horoscope was right so they will continue reading them thinking that each one is telling the truth.
